What is ADSS Cable?
The All-Dielectric Self Supporting (ADSS) cable is a completely
non-metallic structure in which the tensile load bearing elements
are integral within the circular design of the cable - usually in
the form of aramid yarns or stranded glass reinforced plastic rods.
The fibres can be packaged in a variety of ways but are usually
placed in polymer tubes which are then protected within the overall
cable construction. (All-Dielectric Self-Supporting) cable is ideal
for installation in distribution as well as transmission
environments, even when live-line installations are required. As
its name indicates, there is no support or messenger wire required,
so installation is achieved in a single pass, making ADSS an
economical and simple means of achieving a fiber optic network.

The use of ADSS fiber optic cable has lots of advantages. The
cables’ overall weight and diameter are small, which is good news
for towers and poles. Moisture and chemical attack are protected by
the rugged construction. It’s a versatile application that can be
used for most outdoor overhead deployments. The overall
transmission range is also sufficient. Once ADSS cable installation
is done, it will have a maximum service life of up to thirty years.
